But where does all this culture come from, and where is it going? On this ride through the heart of Lafayette, discover the remarkable intersections of people, geography, and culture that make our corner of the world unique. Highlights: - 7 neighborhoods in the historic core of Lafayette - Local landmarks including Cathedral St. John, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Good Hope Hall, and more - Engaging discussion of Lafayette's lesser-known history, Louisiana’s diverse cultures, regional flora and fauna, and more - Friendly and knowledgeable local guide - Comfortable 3-speed bike Important details: - Minimum age: All tour participants must be at least 13 years old. - Waiver: All tour participants must complete and sign a waiver prior to start of tour. For participants under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must sign waiver on participant’s behalf. - Location: Tour begins and ends at Parc Sans Souci, 201 East Vermilion Street in Downtown Lafayette. Look for bikes near the splashpad fountain. - Parking: Convenient, affordable parking is available next door to Parc Sans Souci at the Parc Auto du Centre-Ville parking garage, 121 East Vermilion Street. - Weather: At our discretion, tour may be cancelled due to inclement weather. In case of cancellation, participants will be notified at least 2 hours before tour start time and will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund. - Fitness: While this tour is designed to be comfortable and enjoyable for the general public, tour participants must be capable and confident on a bicycle. - Terrain: Lafayette is almost completely flat – participants can expect very little elevation change while riding. - Roads & traffic: Our tour routes have been designed with preference for low-traffic neighborhood streets, protected bike lanes, and off-street shared-use paths; these make up 85% of this tour’s designed route, and 100% of the route is on streets and roads with speed limits 35mph or below. Participants should expect to share roadways with vehicles and must follow tour guide’s instructions on best practices while navigating as a cyclist.
